Yukon Chapter Information

In 2003 the Harley-Davidson dealership changed hands with the current owners purchasing the dealership. After a short battle with Milwaukee over the name, the dealership became Yukon Harley-Davidson, the only dealership on the Alaska Highway and the Yukon HOG Chapter's proud sponsor.

We have a steady membership of about 40. Members come and members go but the number seems to stay the same. We have members from Alaska and the lower 48th parallel. Although small in numbers the group undertook the task of trying to improve the image of bikers in general as our first mandate. We have managed to accomplish this in our community.

We take part in an annual Show'n'Shine in May during Motorcycle Awareness Month. We have been involved with the Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous Society and the winter carnival, we also have participated in numerous parades and are constantly trying to bring our awareness to the public about motorcycling and motorcycle safety.

Each year a large number of us make the pilgrimage to Alaska, to the Alaska State HOG Rally, which is held in either Fairbanks or Palmer. It is an excuse to ride and, being that we're short of events here in the North country, just give us an excuse to ride and we'll be there. We have given our support to the Klondike Run in Dawson City, as well as the Watson Lake Motorcycle Club undertakings. It is all in the interest of fun and good times with our friends.

In 2004, our editor started up our first Toy Run. This event has become very successful and has gone on in 2005 and 2006 with different beneficiaries. The Yukon HOG Chapter was involved with putting on the bike games for the RideYukon05 event. A good time was had by all at that one. We have held three raffles to date which have all been very successful, raising money for the local Animal Shelter first, then for Yukon Special Olympics for two years running. This year we decided to take a break. We will be back stronger than ever next year with another bike raffle. To date, we have raised approximately $45,000.00 for the two organizations. In a town this size, that is quite an accomplishment.

We have our General meeting every third Wednesday of each month at the Riverview Hotel boardroom at 7.00 p.m. and breakfast every Sunday morning at 9am come rain or shine, snow or blizzard. If you're interested in breakfast, check with a member for the location as the venue changes with our needs.
